questions

Do schizophrenic deaf/mute people sign to them self? I saw a guy sitting on some steps yesterday twitching and signing to himself. He didn't seem to be in the mood to ask my question so I didn't try.

After looking at Temple's Arabic for Beginners class I am decided to go a more functional direction. There is a 7-11 two blocks from me. I go there everyday anyway. They said they can also speak some spanish too.

just something I am fucking around with...WIP

and I have been writing alot of new stories.

Hi, I have a question. I am taking Aviane but I started my period before I finished the pack. I was on my "green pills", the 4rth one, when I started. I could've sworn that I read on the packet that I was supposed to finish the pack before I go to the next pack. But, if I am off, I will be off on the next pack, so what do I do???

on being an adult (or How the Man Gets You)

After extensive polling of sober people I can say with out a doubt that it is inappropriate to get into a hot tub naked with two other girls no matter how good of friends you are and no matter how unsexual the situation is.

interesting quotes:
From one of the girls in the hot tub, "No, it wasn't sexual, but that doesn't mean it is appropriate, but it is dylan. That is just what he does."
from others,
"Don't do that."
"Bad idea."
"Doesn't matter."

So in conclusion, I don't give a shit about what all those people think. What I do care about it how Liz feels. Liz does not like it; that is enough of a reason for me.

This is me becoming an adult... crap.

I really got to get on that second language thing so I can yell at kids and be confused by lights for another 4 years. Why are american's turning stupid so fast? Because they are starting out stupid, staying stupid, then traversing into even stupidier over time.

I am applying to MIT In December. There is a pretty good chance I'll get in. That feel weird. None the less, though I am applying and I might get in I still might not go. I am looking into other options. If I decide to go back to school then MIT is the place to go. Other options include Afghanistan and South America. Basicaly, the places I am most likely to be kidnapped because I am an american. Awesome.

I am writing again. I've just about polished off a new theory of time travel. This is not a theory of how it can happen or if it can happen, but what happens to relationships and heiarchial class systems once it does happen. Oh, and then there is that pesky out-dated 2dimensioal time line. While writing I have created more realistic timelines. I am up to a 5 dimensional timeline. Once you go past the 4th dimension (that could be the dimension of time) it seems a bit odd calling it a time line. Or a line.

I am going back to the east coast for now... whee!

click click click... shit.

...And the iPod harddrived clicked then my stomached dropped.

Years of audio files gone. I don't mean just music I downloaded or ripped from CDs. Ift is too easy to find copies of Gnarls Barkley or Snoop Dogg tracks.

I am feeling for the rare stuff, the audio files like bootleg Saul Williams poetry readings from way back. Even rarer readings from nobody knows even about. Things I picked up in the Czech Republic and things I found in basements on road trips.

William Burroughs reading Thanks giving day prayers to america, Kuarac outtakes.... I just remembered an audio file I had were Burroughs is argueing evolution in the late 70s. Some naive soul stands up in the crowd and trys to debate his thoughts on evolution thinking they were talking to a burnt out old hippie. Burroughs goes into a long lecture about the future of human evolution, laying down solid biological history to support his thoughts, "Whale and us were once the same, we came from water, then they went back into it. There is only one more place to go, we will slowly evolve for space travel like whales evolved to dive to depths that would crush us." Then one of his friends explained that we are already in space... earth is floaty thing in space. "Even now as we speak we are flying around in this gaint void called space. We are already space travelers." The crowd erupts and boos them both, the narrator calms the crowd. This file, whatever it is called, it gone.

Basemet recordings of friend's reading, of me reading... all gone.

Old poetry Slams from all over America. Last words before radio stations were signed off and shut down. Drunk DJs talking about music, gone.

If I ever burned you a CD or copied stuff to your iPod... please let me borrow it so I can try to regain my collection. It was a fucking museum and now it is gone.

modern music

Gwar and E-40 should do a song together.
It would be the modern Run DMC and Stones cross over and it would be so hot.

they are both bass/beat driven and nobody that isn't a super fan knows what they are saying anyhow.

Just think about it... let it ruminate in your head.

tid bits

I am going to start posting tid bits from my writing... comments from things in my world instead of doing original blog post which never get done.

[There is no need to read this whole thing, just the first two paragraphs.]

One of the things that i like about both programming and the way I write poetry is that there are so many little victorious moments of engineering brought about by cleverness; they both give me a feeling of satisfaction in the same way. Both require ingenuity, creativity and an ability to think far enough outside the box but not so far that you can't understand how other think.

To think of poets and programmers as being different is absurd; for too long both have been told that they are separate, that they live in two completely different worlds. One day that difference that only exist in the perceptions of the ignorant will be gone. I can cite articles in every field of study that will support this claim; literally every field from anthropology to zoolology to semantics to basketball.

I wish I could do both better.

Another similarity is that nobody could live without either now days; however, nobody wants to hear either talk about the technicalities of their creation. Not even me.

[You can stop reading now, not that what is said below is a brief chronolofy of this thought.]

I've known this for a solid two years now; maybe longer. I first felt it when I programmed my first interactive poem (nightSilence). As I do more programming and write more poetry it becomes more and more evident to me. Programming and Poetry are the same.

I am writing about it tonight because as I was programming a website for an artist friend of mine I had a flash of insight to how build the back bone architecture of the site. In essence, how all the information will be arrange so that when you press a button the website knows what information to bring up. It is a very complicated game of telephone: the cursor tells the button, the button tells the immediate movie, that movie tells it parent, that parent tells its master if need be.

A parent can have many children, sometime so many that it needs a nanny. A master can have so many parents that sometimes it needs managers. Anyhow, this technical part isn't key to why I was talking about it...

The flash of inspiration on how to build the back bone architecture came from and gave me the same satisfaction that poetic inspiration comes from and gives me. Which is not the same for painting, drawing, or writing a story. Writing a story and poetry have nothing to do with each other for me.

As the saying goes: if it looks like shit, smells like shit, taste like shit, then it must be shit. And so it is with Poetry and Programming :)
